Report cards are given quarterly. All teachers will submit a mid-quarter progress report to parents. The first will be written and sent for all students. In subsequent marking periods, parents of students with deficiencies will be contacted by telephone. Communication between the parents and teacher is encouraged as often as needed. Exams are usually given at the end of each semester for all classes. A schedule of exams will be published. Parent-teacher conferences are mandatory for the fall term and encouraged during the second term.
Missional/Community Service Hours
All students will be required to complete a minimum of 50 hours of missional and community service during the course of their education at East Martin Christian High School as a requisite to graduation. The primary emphasis must be on service that is truly missional, that has value as a way to demonstrate the love of God as a witness to those who need the message of that love. Some projects, of course, may begin as community service and have potential to become missional in character. These and all community service would apply toward the minimum of 50 cumulative hours. Records will be kept of ALL service hours produced by each student and this cumulative total will become a part of the student’s permanent record (transcript). Many scholarship programs view service like this as a factor in receiving scholarship consideration. Colleges and employers also are sensitive to this issue as well. By means of this requirement we are giving our students a mandate to display their acceptance of the “mind of Christ” and also an opportunity for them to have their acts of Christian love and kindness recorded for others to
use in assessing them.
